News release by the Ministry of the Interior and Administration

17.12.2021

On Thursday 16th December, the Team for the preparation and implementation of state border protection installations convened for their fourth meeting. Marek Chodkiewicz, the plenipotentiary for the preparation and implementation of state border protection installations, recommended that the construction of the barrier to be raised on the border with Belarus should be commissioned to two companies: BUDIMEX SA and UNIBEP SA. The Team for the preparation and implementation of state border protection installations gave a positive opinion on the plenipotentiary's proposal.

The two companies were selected in the course of technical, contractor and price negotiations from among seven players invited to submit their offers. As assessed by the investor, they fully meet the assumed criteria, in particular they are experienced in implementing line investments and offer their own equipment and personnel. In addition, both companies ensure that the barrier can be built from prefabricated elements, which will provide for limiting the works on site that could significantly affect operations in the border zone to the bare minimum. The companies named by the investor also guarantee that they will meet their schedule obligations, while the cost estimates presented are in line with the investor's expectations, provided that all technical and technological assumptions are satisfied.

Detailed information in this respect will be presented at a press conference next week.
