Press conference of Minister Marcin Kierwiński

We have decided on the distribution of responsibilities and mandates among all deputy ministers. There is a lot of work to be done, including cooperation with voivodeships, dialogue with local governments and their supervision. We are aware of the many challenges and we will solve them

said Minister Marcin Kierwiński.

During the conference, the Minister of the Interior and Administration presented the cabinet and the scope of duties of each deputy minister.

Deputy Minister Wiesław Szczepański will be responsible for overseeing the budget, as well as EU projects – including those concerning the services under the Ministry. Secretary of State Tomasz Szymański will take over tasks related to administration, collaboration with local governments and relations with churches and religious associations. Deputy Minister Czesław Mroczek will be responsible for the Police, the State Protection Service, the State Fire Service and the Border Guard. Deputy Minister Wiesław Leśniakiewicz will handle crisis management and civil protection. The Undersecretary in the Ministry of the Interior and Administration will work with Deputy Minister Czesław Mroczek on issues concerning the State Fire Service.

Minister Marcin Kierwiński also spoke about the appointment of new voivodes.

We have started the process of replacing the local representatives of the national government, with Prime Minister Donald Tusk appointing two new voivodes. I will ask the Prime Minister to appoint many women. In the coming days we will submit our requests to Prime Minister Donald Tusk to appoint the remaining voivodes, as we want this process to be smooth and seamless. I believe that the new administration will be ready to work by the middle of next week

he said.

Responsibility for security

The new Minister of the Interior and Administration stated that one of the key challenges concerns changes in the security services.

We need to keep in mind that these services are responsible for our security; they are crucial to ensuring it. We are not going to delay these changes; however, what we want to do is to be careful and cautious in order to ensure the continuity of their operation

he explained.

He also revealed that the ministry's cabinet would be announcing further decisions in the coming days.

We are going to make the process evolutionary. On the one hand, this will allow us to resolve the key issues that we have been dealing with in recent years, and on the other, it will also give them an impetus. In the upcoming week, we will definitely announce new decisions concerning changes and personnel in these services as well

the Minister added.

Minister Marcin Kierwiński also mentioned the tragic incident in Andrychów.

We are all deeply moved by the recent events. One of the first decisions we are going to announce will concern the operation of uniformed services and reaction times, especially in the area of children's safety

the Minister announced.
