“There is no consent of the North Atlantic Alliance to the situation in Ukraine. In this regard, we discussed the steps that should be taken to stop the Russian invasion. For my part, I presented the project that Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński spoke about yesterday during his visit to Kiev. I presented this project for the allies to consider whether and how a peace mission in Ukraine could be formulated. Let me remind you that such a mission is conducted in Kosovo. Of course, it is not easy, this matter will be discussed, but it has been put on the table” - said Minister Mariusz Błaszczak after the meeting of NATO defence ministers.

"Today is the 23rd anniversary of Poland's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance. This anniversary falls on an exceptional time due to the fact there is a war at the borders of Poland. Russia has attacked Ukraine. Poland is safe. Poland is also safe because constitutes a part of the North Atlantic Alliance" - said Minister Mariusz Błaszczak during his stay in Bemowo Piskie.

The Polish Army has been on high alert for several weeks due to the tense situation in Ukraine. Today, in connection with the Russian aggression, Minister Mariusz Błaszczak decided to introduce another level of readiness in dedicated units of operational and territorial defence forces. Soldiers will be required to remain in them. The decisions on leaves and travel duties were also withdrawn. The decision to introduce the next degree of readiness is standard course of action in such situations.

“Thank you for strengthening the military presence of the United States in Poland, and for declaring the possibility of further strengthening, both by NATO and the USA, if necessary. Poland and United states together are able to act more effectively and achieve more. We have a common goal of peace and security. StrongerTogether” – said Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defence after the end of talks with Lloyd Austin, the US Secretary of Defence.

“We are located in an air base, but this is not only air base indeed because it is also an expanded and developed military equipment warehouses and this will definitely facilitate the readiness of the US troops and this is the biggest facility of this kind in this part of Europe” - said Mariusz Błaszczak, Minister of National Defence during a meeting with soldiers at the 33rd Transport Air Base.

Today we talked about the support given to Ukraine, which is now threatened by aggressive Russian policy, but also about Georgia. I have presented everything that Poland consistently does to support these countries. We want to stop this development of the Russian sphere of influence, so that our neighbouring countries can decide for themselves which alliance they want to join. I emphasized that there is no consent for someone from the outside to decide for Ukraine what alliance it should and should not be in. This is one of the fundamental principles of sovereignty. We stand for the sovereignty of all states - said Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defence after the meeting with NATO defence ministers at the Alliance Headquarters in Brussels.

“There is a strong declaration of unity and solidarity towards Ukraine. Readiness to increase engagement on NATO's Eastern flank as the situation develops. This is a message that was shared by all participants in today's meeting. A joint declaration and documents have also been adopted today, making a significant contribution to what will happen at the NATO summit in Madrid (…) The unity of the Alliance states and solidarity with Ukraine are significant. It is important that Poland has been repeating for many years that there is no consent to make concessions to the aggressive Russian policy, because such concessions make the aggressor insolent" - said Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defence after the meeting with NATO defence ministers at the Alliance Headquarters in Brussels.

“An additional 350 soldiers will be deployed to Poland. They will strengthen the already present 100 soldiers from the engineering troops who, together with Polish soldiers, protect the Polish-Belarusian border. Poland and the United Kingdom are ready through the policy of deterrence discourage the aggressor from further actions” - said Mariusz Błaszczak, Minister of National Defence during his visit to London.

Nearly two thousand American soldiers will be deployed to Poland in the oncoming days. On Wednesday the Pentagon announcedthat it has finalized arrangements to strengthen the US military presence in Poland and other parts of NATO's eastern flank (Romania and Germany).

“We will work toward fulfilling our obligation that we are taking today upon ourselves. Having been engaged in the work of EC’s internal bodies for couple of years now, Poland is already fully on board in HQ’s activities. That gives our military a good position to take up the highest flag posts in the HQ, including the Commander’s post next year.I expect that Polish officers who are already here, and those who will join soon, will show professionalism and commitment in their day-to-day activities, will collect experience and share their own perspective, how to make this HQ an effective tool of security and defence, for both NATO and the European Union” - said Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defence, during the ceremony of welcoming Poland as the sixth framework nation of the Eurocorps.
