In his speech, Ambassador G. Kowal recalled that the establishment of diplomatic relations with Samoa took place 10 years ago in New York. He emphasized the foundations that bind both countries, which are democracy, respect for international law and human rights. A similar view on international affairs is also important. The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland thanked the Independent State of Samoa for its clear position condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Briefly discussing contemporary cooperation, the Ambassador highlighted joint efforts to combat the effects of climate change at the UN forum (COP24 in Katowice, in which the Samoan delegation participated). He also assured of plans to pay a personal visit to Apia after the travel restrictions are lifted.

In response to the speech of the Polish Ambassador, the Head of State of Samoa expressed his satisfaction with this year's milestone 10th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations. He emphasized the importance of cooperation in international fora, mainly the United Nations. He recalled that Poland was the host of COP24 and mentioned other areas of joint work, i.e. in the field of maintaining peace and security, or the protection of human rights.
