Kiribati

Diplomatic relations between Poland and Kiribati were established on 2 March 2015.

Political cooperation

Ambassador of the Republic of Poland Zbigniew Gniatkowski paid his first visit to the Republic of Kiribati in July 2016. On this occasion, the Polish ambassador represented Poland in the national commemorations of the 37th Anniversary of Independence of Kiribati. He met with newly elected President Taneti Maamau, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Akkaa Rimon, as well as with ministers for fisheries, education and health. Ambassador Gniatkowski also visited the sites of development projects co-financed with the European Union funds.

A group of 26 pilgrims from Kiribati visited Poland in July 2016 to participate in the World Youth Days held in Kraków.  

President T. Maamau led the official delegation of Kiribati to the 24th World Climate Conference under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP24 in Katowice, Poland in December 2018.
