Samoa

Diplomatic relations between Poland and Independent State of Samoa were established on 8 March 2012.

Political cooperation

Historical view 

In August 2016, Polish Ambassador Zbigniew Gniatkowski visited the Independent State of Samoa, where he was received by Tuilaepa Malielegaoi, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Samoan Prime Minister Tuilaepa Malielegaoi led the official delegation of Samoa to the 24th World Climate Conference under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP24 in Katowice, Poland in December 2018.

On 11 March 2021, Polish Ambassador Grzegorz Kowal presented the Letters of Credence to the Head of State, King Tuimalealiʻifano Vaʻaletoa Sualauvi II. Due to corona virus pandemic and travelling restrictions the ceremony took place virtually.

On November 15, 2023 in Apia, Samoa, The European Union and its Member States signed a new agreement with the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States. On behalf of the Republic of Poland the agreement was signed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in New Zealand, Grzegorz Kowal.The agreement replaces the previous so-called "Cotonou Agreement" and constitutes the basis for mutual relations between the countries. The Samoa agreement is to be valid for 20 years and covers areas such as sustainable development and economic growth, human rights and peace and security.

October 12, 2023 marks an important day for the Polish presence in Samoa as it is the day of the nomination for the first Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland based in Apia, Mr Anthony Joseph Moli Pereira.
