Poland in New Zealand

“As the Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Army, I hereby notify belligerent and neutral governments and nations of the existence of an Independent Polish State, within all the territories of the united Poland” – with these words Józef Piłsudski addressed the heads of world powers and notified them about the formation of the Second Polish Republic.

On the occasion of the Independence Day, the Musical Theater in Poznań would like to invite you to "Paddymania" - a concert with songs from the musical "Virtuoso" dedicated to the personage of Ignacy Jan Paderewski - one of the Fathers of Independence, an outstanding politician and prime minister and an outstanding pianist and composer.

In the morning of 10 November 2020, Ambassador Grzegorz Kowal laid flowers at the grave of Kazimierz Wodzicki, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in 1941-45. Mr Grzegorz Kowal presented the Letter of Credence to the New Zealand Governor General The Right Honourable Dame Patsy Reddy, accrediting him as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to New Zealand. The ceremony took place at the Government House in Wellington on 5 November 2020.

On Sunday, 20 September 2020, Ambassador Z. Gniatkowski participated in the ceremony of unveiling of a new street honouring early Polish settlers in Mosgiel, in Otago. Pomerania Way has been inaugurated thanks to the efforts of the Polish Heritage of Otago and Southland Charitable Trust (POHOS).
