Fifth edition of #PolishGemsUK social media campaign

26.07.2023

With the holiday season in full swing, we kick off the fifth edition of the social media campaign to discover hidden Polish treasures around the UK!

Polish Gems UK

To mark the 80th anniversary of the arrival of Polish cryptologists in the United Kingdom, this year’s gems will be related to the breaking of the Enigma code by the Poles and their cooperation with their British and French counterparts.

Such treasures include a replica of Marian Rejewski's "Bomba" at Bletchley Park; a plaque in Chichester honouring Henryk Zygalski; the grave of Gwido Langer in Perth; a plaque in Felden honouring Polish cryptologists; and Henryk Zygalski's former workplace in Surrey.

Join us in uncovering unique places and stories linked to the breaking of the Enigma code by Polish codebreakers by using the hashtags #PolishGemsUK and #EnigmaRelay on Facebook and Twitter or drop us an email with a description of the item and images of it at london.press@msz.gov.pl.
