Émigré and diaspora publisher Jan Chodakowski awarded the Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis

Polish émigré and diaspora publisher and translator Jan Chodakowski has received the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis.

He was presented with the decoration by Ambassador Piotr Wilczek on behalf of Poland’s Culture and National Heritage Minister Piotr Gliński for his contribution to the cultivation and protection of culture and national heritage from 1979 onwards.

The ceremony took place at the Polish Embassy in London in the presence of Mr Chodakowski’s family and friends.

Jan Chodakowski, an architect by education and profession, is an acclaimed publisher and translator who has been active for many years in the Polish émigré and diaspora community in London and with Polish cultural institutions in Poland.

Among others, he has been the managing editor of London-based Polish language book publishers: POLONIA Book Fund and PULS Publications Ltd.
