Poland in the UK

For the last several days, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London has been receiving information about the readiness of UK-based people of good will to support humanitarian aid efforts in Poland for those affected by the war in Ukraine. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the assistance provided by many entities and individuals.

Poland stands with Ukraine! Please be advised that as of today all COVID related restrictions have been suspended and are not required for all foreigners crossing Polish-Ukraine border.

On 10 February 2022, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met in Warsaw with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Boris Johnson's visit is a proof of allied solidarity in bilateral relations and in NATO, in the face of threats to European security. Prime Ministers discussed security in the region, particularly with regard to Russia's actions against Ukraine. After the meeting at the Prime Minister's Office, both prime ministers visited British and Polish soldiers at the military base in Wesoła.

The call for applications for the sixth edition of Polish Heritage Days (PHD) is now open! The theme of this year’s PHD is the 130th anniversary of the birth of three Polish generals: Władysław Anders, Stanisław Maczek and Stanisław Sosabowski.

On 5 February at the historic Guildhall in London, the special 50th edition of the Bal Polski took place, attended by numerous eminent Polish and British guests from the world of culture. This year, the funds raised during the gala ball will be donated to the Home for Mothers with Young Children and Pregnant Women in Łabunie near Zamość.

Thursday, 3 February saw the funeral of Marzenna Schejbal, a Warsaw Uprising veteran and activist for the Polish community and ex-combatants, take place in London.

Today, Poland has started its one-year Chairmanship at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Thus, our country is assuming a greater role in shaping security and stabilisation on the European continent in the spirit of the Helsinki Final Act, whose 50th anniversary we will be celebrating in 2025.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met with Prime Minister Boris Johnson in London. The main topic of the politicians' discussions was the crisis on the eastern border of the European Union. The head of the British government informed that, in the situation of the migration crisis, his country stands side by side with Poland. He also emphasized that, in terms of long-term security but also many other areas, Poland is the closest European ally of the United Kingdom in NATO.

Undersecretary of State at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Marcin Przydacz met in London on 18 November with James Cleverly, UK Secretary of State for the Middle East and North Africa, and Wendy Morton, UK Under Secretary of State for European Neighbourhood and the Americas.
