Trade cooperation

During the meeting, the results of the June visit of Deputy Minister Małgorzata Gromadzka to Egypt and the economic mission of entrepreneurs from the cereal and milling sector, organised by the National Support Centre for Agriculture in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Cairo, were summarised.

Further measures aimed at developing trade cooperation and increasing the presence of Polish agri-food products on the Egyptian market were discussed. The interlocutors expressed their satisfaction with the development of contacts between entrepreneurs from both countries.

The possibilities of exporting Polish wheat

One of the major subjects of the meeting was the possibility of resuming the export of Polish wheat to Egypt after a break of several years. This is particularly important in connection with the interest of the Egyptian party in diversifying the sources of supply of this cereal.

Deputy Minister Małgorzata Gromadzka stressed that the talks conducted during the June visit to Egypt had created good foundations for further measures aimed at returning Polish wheat to the Egyptian market.

Beef and poultry

The discussion also concerned access of Polish animal products to the Egyptian market.

Deputy Minister Gromadzka highlighted that the Polish party was eagerly awaiting information about the results of the audit of Polish poultry and beef plants and cold stores, which was conducted that June. In this context, she expressed her hope for extending export authorisations and approving further Polish entities interested in exporting to Egypt.

Position of the Egyptian party

The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Poland Ahmed Samy Mohamed Mahmoud El Ansary declared his readiness to support measures aimed at increasing mutual trade in agri-food products. In this context, he stressed that Egypt should be perceived not only in bilateral terms, but also as a gateway to African markets.

Trade with Egypt

Egypt is an important partner of Poland in agri-food trade. In 2025, the value of the Polish agri-food export to that market exceeded EUR 104 million and was by 18% higher than the year before. To Egypt, Poland exported mainly fresh apples, pears and quinces as well as cheese and curd, animal intestines, bladders and stomachs. In the period from January to April 2026, the export value amounted to about EUR 51 million.
