On the Development of Polish-Moldovan Cooperation in the Agricultural Sector
28.03.2025
Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak received today the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Poland, Violeta Agrici. The discussions focused on the development of Polish-Moldovan cooperation in the agricultural sector, with particular emphasis on expert support for Moldova and mutual trade in agri-food products. This was the first visit to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development by the newly appointed Ambassador, who began her diplomatic mission in Poland earlier this year.
The Polish Position
Deputy Minister Jacek Czerniak emphasised that Poland fully supports the Republic of Moldova’s aspirations for EU membership. As a country that has undergone a profound transformation of its agricultural sector and has been a member of the EU community for two decades, we are ready to share our knowledge and support our Moldovan partners in the process of preparing for accession to the EU. Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak expressed hope that significant progress on Moldova’s EU accession path could be achieved, particularly during Poland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The Moldovan Position
The Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Poland, Violeta Agrici, conveyed her gratitude for the support received from Poland, especially in the challenging process of adapting Moldova’s agricultural sector to EU standards. She highlighted that Poland possesses valuable experience that can assist Moldova, particularly in the field of agriculture, which plays a key role in the country’s economy. She also voiced hope for the deepening of bilateral relations and emphasised that strengthening security and combating disinformation are among her short- and medium-term goals.
Both parties expressed hope for the continuation of the Polish-Moldovan dialogue on agricultural matters during the planned meeting this year of the Polish-Moldovan Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation.
Trade in Agri-Food Products
In 2024, the value of Polish agri-food exports to Moldova reached €83.9 million. The most popular Polish products on the Moldovan market include cheese and curd, pork, as well as poultry meat and offal.
