Poland and Egypt discuss the development of agri-food cooperation

Further development of cooperation in the agri-food sector and expanding trade were the key items of the agenda of the meeting between the Secretary of State Małgorzata Gromadzka and the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Poland. The discussions focused primarily on the resumption of exports of cereals and opening the export opportunities for products of animal origin to the Egyptian market. In 2025, the value of the Polish agri-food exports to Egypt increased by 18 percent and exceeded EUR 104 million.

Cooperation with Egypt

The Secretary of State Małgorzata Gromadzka held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Poland Ahmed Samy Mohamed Mahmoud ElAnsary. The discussion focused on the cooperation in the agri-food sector and preparations to the scheduled visit of Deputy Minister Małgorzata Gromadzka to Egypt.

Exports of cereals

Resuming the exports of the Polish cereals onto the Egyptian market was one of the priority items of the discussion. The Secretary of State Małgorzata Gromadzka confirmed that Poland is committed to developing cooperation with Egypt in the agricultural sector. The phytosanitary services of both states pursue their dialogue in this issue.

The mission of the cereal producers and exporters of cereals to Egypt organised by the National Support Centre for Agriculture starts today. The mission programme covers the business talks with the potential trade partners.  

Products of animal origin

Poland is also committed to developing exports of products of animal origin to Egypt. Thus, the audit of the Egyptian services in the Polish beef and poultry production plants scheduled for the upcoming days will be of a great importance.  The Secretary of State Małgorzata Gromadzka expressed her hope that its outcome will be positive.

– Poland is among the leading meat and meat product producers and exporters. We are the second largest exporter of beef in the European Union – stressed the Secretary of State Małgorzata Gromadzka.

Position of the Egyptian Party

The Ambassador of Egypt confirmed the readiness for further development of cooperation with Poland. He emphasized that his country has perceived Poland as a reliable partner and given high notes to the Polish agricultural sector in recent decades. The Ambassador stressed that the Polish experience may be inspiring to Egypt. He declared also the support for the measures to expand bilateral trading in agri-food products.

Trade

In 2025, the value of the Polish agri-food exports to Egypt reached EUR 104 million, which is by 18 percent more compared to the previous year. Poland exported primarily fresh eggs, pears and quinces, cheeses and quarks, as well as animal intestines, bladders and stomachs.

Between January and April 2026, the value of the Polish agri-food exports to Egypt amounted to approx. EUR 51 million.
