– Poland is one of the largest food producers in Europe. Our priorities include high quality, use of state-of-the-art technologies and care of animal welfare. We consider Philippines as one of the most perspective markets in Southeast Asia, with more than 100 million of consumers. Smooth cooperation between our institutions and administrations enables access of the subsequent Polish products onto the Philippine market, while Polish food is well perceived by local consumers - said Minister Stefan Krajewski.

Further market opening for Polish food

The talks with the Philippine Deputy Minister of Agriculture and the representatives of the Bureau of Animal Industry and Bureau of Plant Industry focused on continued facilitation of access of the Polish agri-food products onto the Philippine market. The discussed issues encompassed export of meat, milk and milk products, eggs and egg products, apples and cereals. During the discussions, the Philippine party expressed also its interest in the importation of animal feed.

– Currently, we are working together on changing the regionalisation principles for highly pathogenic avian influenza from the poviat to commune level. We hope for successful completion of this process in near future – said the Chief Veterinary Officer Paweł Meyer.

The talks covered also draft memorandum of understanding (MoU), on which both parties have been working for several years.

– The Philippine party confirmed that determining the phytosanitary conditions for export of Polish apples is completed, which opens the market for this product. The discussions on opening the market for other products: milling and feed wheat, onion and American blueberry have been already launched. The Philippine party agreed to process all three PRA procedures at the same time. We were ensured that the first transport may include apples from this-year harvest -  emphasized the Chief Inspector of Plant Health and Seed Inspection Magdalena Makowska.

Increasing importance of trade cooperation

In 2025, the value of Polish agri-food export to the Philippine market exceeded EUR 81 million and was higher by 21 percent compared to the previous year. The highest export share is recorded for dairy products and poultry meat, sales of which increased by approx. 72 percent compared to 2024.

Confirmed interest in Polish food

During the meeting with the Philippine Cabinet Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” de Castro Abalos Jr. responsible for coordination of operations of the governmental administration the importance of economic and agricultural cooperation between both states was discussed. The Cabinet Secretary confirmed interest in continuous increasing the presence of the Polish agri-food products on the Philippine market and in development of cooperation with Poland.

Minister Stefan Krajewski stressed that development of relations with Philippines complies with the activities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for strengthening the presence of Polish food on the perspective non-European Union markets.
