– The Philippines is a promising market having nearly 120 million consumers. We want to strengthen the presence of Polish food in this part of the world and create new export opportunities for our producers. We also want to further facilitate market access for Polish poultry and open the Philippine market for Polish apples and egg products – said Minister Stefan Krajewski.

Today, the Asia-Pacific region is one of the fastest growing markets in the world and one of the most important targets of diversification of Polish food export. The Philippines, whose population is nearly 120 million, stands out for its young population, growing middle class and an increasing demand for imported food. That is why the Philippines is one of the most important non-European directions of development of Polish food export.

The Philippines is an increasingly important market for Polish food

In 2025, the value of the Polish agri-food export to the Philippines exceeded EUR 81 million and was by more than 21% higher than the year before. The largest share in the export is that of milk products and poultry meat. Sales of poultry are growing particularly fast – last year, their value increased by about 72% and amounted to nearly EUR 26 million.

Seminar dedicated to trade cooperation

One of the major points of the visit is the seminar organised by the Union of Producers and Employers of Meat Industry (UPEMI). The event is attended by representatives of the Polish and Philippine food industry, administration as well as entrepreneurs interested in developing trade cooperation. The conference is accompanied by B2B meetings between Polish exporters and Philippine importers.

– Poland is specialised in the production and export of meat. We want to assure the Philippines that we are a trustworthy and stable trading partner. I am convinced that the seminar and the accompanying talks will open up space for concrete arrangements and strengthen the presence of Polish producers in this part of the world – said Minister Krajewski.

Production and export of food is one of the greatest strengths of the Polish agri-food sector. In 2025, the export of meat products exceeded EUR 13 billion and accounted for more than 22% of the total Polish agri-food export. Poland is the largest producer of poultry meat in the European Union and about 60% of domestic production is shipped to foreign markets. Poultry meat is exported mainly to the European Union countries but Poland is regularly increasing its presence also on Asian markets, including the Philippines.

Poland present for the first time with its national stand at the WOFEX fair

Part of the visit is also the participation in the World Food Expo (WOFEX) fair in Manila – the largest event of the food industry in the Philippines. For the first time in history, the National Support Centre for Agriculture organises a Polish national stand there. At the joint stand, the offer is presented by 11 Polish companies representing the dairy, meat, confectionery sectors as well as processed food producers. The stand will promote the Polish export offer and make it easier for entrepreneurs to establish contacts.

Talks on further opening up the market

Minister Stefan Krajewski will talk with representatives of the Philippine Association of Meat Processors Inc. (PAMPI) on the opportunities for increasing the presence of Polish meat products on the Philippine market.

Minister Stefan Krajewski will also meet with representatives of the Philippine agricultural administration and the Cabinet Secretary of the Philippines Benjamin “Benhur” de Castro Abalos Jr. The subject of the talks will include, among others, increasing the export of Polish poultry, opening the Philippine market for Polish apples and egg products, export of cereals, milk and milk products as well as preparing a bilateral agreement on cooperation in agriculture.

The meetings will also be an opportunity to summarise the existing effects of cooperation. In recent months, the Philippines has recognised the regionalisation of African swine fever, lifted the ban on the import of pork products from Poland and accepted the model veterinary certificate for beef and beef offal. Poland is seeking to finalise the procedure of opening the Philippine market for apples and to open the Philippine market for egg products.
