The most important topics of discussion

– I am very glad that we have an opportunity to exchange valuable experiences with the American partners in the field of innovative techniques contributing to improving the efficiency and profitability of farms – stressed Deputy Minister Nowak. He also mentioned the funds from the National Recovery Plan, which were disbursed on precision agriculture – including digitalisation and improved automation of farms.

The Polish-American discussion focused on topics related to, among others, the implementation of sustainable agriculture in Poland, the use of precision agriculture tools, mechanisms of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) supporting the profitability and competitiveness of farms.

The discussion also included the need to support the resilience of the agricultural sector in order to increase long-term food security, agricultural diversity and ensuring the profitability of agricultural production.

Topics related to the challenges facing agriculture, related to, among others, water scarcity and nature-based solutions as well as payment mechanisms under the CAP green architecture, have also been discussed.

The meeting was also an opportunity to summarise the status of Polish-American cooperation in the agri-food sector.

USSA brings together American agricultural producers and promotes sustainable agriculture around the world. The mission of the organisation is to share knowledge about the methods of production in the USA with European and international counterparts.

Trade in agri-food products with the USA

The United States is one of the key Polish partners in agri-food trade and the third customer of Polish agri-food products among non-EU countries. In 2024, our export to that country reached a value of EUR 786.4 million. Polish sweets and cocoa-containing products, bread and confectionery, fish enjoy the greatest interest among American consumers.
