On 3 September 2025, during the AGROKOMPLEX International Agricultural and Food Fair in Nitra, Slovakia, Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak met with the Slovak Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vladimír Vnuk, to discuss the Multiannual Financial Framework of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) as well as the trade agreement with Ukraine. Deputy Minister Czerniak also took part in the official opening of the fair.
Opening of the Fair
Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak, together with the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini, the Slovak Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Richard Takáč, as well as representatives of agricultural organizations and the fair’s management board, participated in the ceremonial opening of AGROKOMPLEX – one of the most important industry exhibitions in Slovakia, held this year for the 50th time. During the ceremony, Deputy Minister Czerniak also met with foreign delegations present at the fair.
Talks with Exhibitors
A part of AGROKOMPLEX 2025 is the international pavilion, where foreign companies from various countries present their products. The Secretary of State held talks there with Polish exhibitors about the challenges they face, congratulated them on their achievements, and wished them continued success. “I encourage you to maintain constant dialogue with the Ministry of Agriculture. In this way, we will be able to work together on systemic solutions that strengthen the position of producers and the competitiveness of the agricultural sector,” emphasized the representative of the Polish delegation.
Talks with Secretary of State Vladimír Vnuk
Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak, together with his counterpart from the Slovak Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vladimír Vnuk, focused primarily on the future of the Common Agricultural Policy after 2028 in the context of the Multiannual Financial Framework, as well as on the trade agreement with Ukraine.
The Deputy Minister underlined that, as regards the future of the CAP, Poland sees the need for greater flexibility in order to adequately respond to emerging new challenges. He also stressed the importance of ensuring sufficient funding for the CAP.
“The Common Agricultural Policy deserves a budget of adequate size to secure farmers’ incomes and ensure food security for EU citizens. The specific nature of the CAP requires the maintenance of a separate budget, based on the proven two-pillar model,” emphasized Deputy Minister Jacek Czerniak.
The Secretaries of State from Poland and Slovakia jointly underlined that Ukraine should accede to the EU on fair terms and that the interests of European farmers must be properly safeguarded.
