27.10.2022

Today, at the seat of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Secretary of State Ryszard Bartosik met with beef importers from Japan. The Japanese entrepreneurs are visiting Poland within the framework of the promotion programme “European Beef on Asian Markets” which is co-financed from the EU resources. The aim of the programme is to support European entrepreneurs in entering into business relationships with partners from Japan and Hong Kong.

The beef sector in Poland

The purpose of the meeting was to present to Japanese importers detailed information on the beef sector in Poland, the scale and specificity of the production of this meat in our country, as well as the conditions for the exports of food of animal origin from Poland. The guests’ questions were answered by the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Chief Veterinary Office and the National Support Centre for Agriculture.

“Meat production and exports are a Polish specialty. Poland is the third largest beef exporter in the EU. We sell 87% of our production of this meat to foreign trade partners. I hope that the contacts entered into by you during your visit to Poland will result in tangible agreements and contracts,” Deputy Minister Ryszard Bartosik said.

Exports of agri-food products to Japan

Japan is an important partner of Poland in the trade in agri-food products. In 2021, the value of our exports to Japan reached EUR 95.2 million. This country is the second largest importer of Polish beef among non-EU countries (right after Great Britain).
