Polish food abroad

In his speech during the opening of the Polish national stand “Poland tastes good”, the Undersecretary of State Adam Nowak pointed out that Polish food was appreciated all over the world and met the highest standards.

– At the IFE international food fair, we present the best things in Poland: innovative companies focused on the future, offering products of the highest quality. The slogan “Poland tastes good” has a literal meaning in the United Kingdom – emphasised Deputy Minister Nowak.

The Deputy Minister also referred to the overarching goal of agriculture, namely, ensuring food security.

– In the current geopolitical situation, the production of food has become more important than ever. Food security is the major priority of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development during the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union – pointed out the Undersecretary of State.

Challenges for Polish exporters

The Undersecretary of State Adam Nowak met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Piotr Wilczek. The talks concerned Polish-British cooperation in the agricultural sector, including the problems faced since Brexit by Polish companies exporting goods to the British market, and the possibilities of solving them.

Deputy Minister Nowak asked for further support of Polish agri-food companies, in particular, small and medium-sized ones, in contacts with the British administration.

Trade cooperation with the United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is an important trading partner of Poland as regards trade in agri-food products. Poland has a positive trade balance with the United Kingdom (about EUR 3.8 billion).

Last year, the export value amounted to EUR 4.4 billion, which accounts for about 8% of the whole Polish export of agri-food products. This means an increase by 4% when compared to 2023. Also, the import of British agri-food products to Poland is growing. In 2024, it amounted to nearly EUR 578 million and this means an increase by about 12% when compared to 2023.
