Polish-Hungarian talks on energy independence

The use of biomass to strengthen energy independence is the main topic of today's online meeting of Secretary of State Janusz Kowalski with Zsolt Feldman, Secretary of State at the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture.

The Deputy Ministers discussed possible cooperation in developing renewable energy sources (RES), mainly biomass, in rural areas.

The Polish and Hungarian Deputy Ministers agreed that it was indispensable to increase biomass energy use to strengthen the EU's energy independence. They stressed that it was imperative to efficiently use the energy resources available in individual EU Member States in the current geopolitical situation. What is more, they raised the issue of national regulations enabling conventional gas to be replaced by biogas.

Directions for the development of cooperation

They declared their readiness to develop cooperation between Poland and Hungary on the issue of renewable energy sources (RES) in rural areas through the exchange of good practices, experiences and mutual support in discussions on this topic at the EU forum. The common goal is to improve the competitiveness of European agriculture and the profitability of agricultural production, provide stable energy sources and ensure food security.
