Director Bogusław Wijatyk has officially opened the Polish national stand, organised by the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR), and has held numerous meetings with the representatives of Polish companies participating in the fair. During the talks, he stressed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, together with the Veterinary Inspection, conducted intense activities to further open the Korean market for Polish agri-food products. This year’s 43rd edition of the Seoul Food & Hotel fair is attended by more than 40 Polish companies offering a wide range of food products and intermediates for the food industry.

Events promoting Polish food

The General Director also attended events promoting Polish food, such as:

• meeting organised by the Union of Producers and Employers of Meat Industry (UPEMI) as part of the “EU Good Food Good Life” three-year campaign, conducted jointly with the Hellenic Republic, promoting, among others, Polish meat and Greek kiwifruit and peaches;

• event organised by the Promotion Centre of the Polish Chamber of Commerce as part of the “Drop of Excellence” campaign, dedicated to increasing the share of Polish dairy products on the Korean market.

During the meetings, Director Wijatyk discussed the current status of access procedures concerning, among others, beef export and the expansion of the range of exported dairy products. He also pointed to Poland’s recent successes on the Korean market, such as:

• opening the market for poultry meat from Poland (since January 2025);

• re-opening the market for pork from Poland (since 2024);

• 90% share of Polish milk in the Korean market.

Constantly growing trade

The Republic of Korea, as a country strongly dependent on food import, is a key outlet market for Polish agri-food products. In 2024, the value of the Polish export to South Korea reached EUR 93.05 million, which means an increase by 13% when compared to the previous year.

The most important export categories were: milk and cream, starch and beer.

The visit of Director General Bogusław Wijatyk was already the third visit of a representative of the MARD management to the Republic of Korea in recent years, which highlights the strategic importance of this market for the Polish agri-food sector. Bilateral talks on the export procedures will be continued so as to make even more effective use of the potential of cooperation with Korea.
