Minister Krajewski stressed that Spain was a key partner of Poland in the field of agriculture and trade in agri-food products.

– Currently, Spain is ranked 7^th among the major customers of Polish agri-food products and 4^th among suppliers of these products to Poland. Last year, our export value to the Spanish market amounted to nearly EUR 2 billion and is showing an upward trend. This proves that Polish products are appreciated all over the world for their highest quality and excellent taste – stressed Minister Krajewski.

Both parties agreed that the offers of both countries complemented each other, which resulted, among others, from different climatic conditions.

– We are not just competitors since our offers can complement each other and be attractive to consumers in both countries. I am convinced that our trade relations in this area can be even more intense – assured the Minister of Agriculture.

The Minister also reiterated the success of that year’s ALIMMENTARIA fair in Barcelona, in which Poland participated as a partner country.

The EU agenda

During the meeting, the most important current topics of the EU agenda were also discussed. The talks concerned, among others, the future of the Common Agricultural Policy post-2027, issues related to trade agreements, the livestock strategy and the protein plan. Minister Krajewski and Ambassador Ortega also discussed the challenges facing European agriculture and the importance of dialogue between the Member States in developing common solutions within the European Union.

Summary

At the end of the meeting, both parties declared their willingness to continue good Polish-Spanish cooperation in the EU forum and to seek to strengthen economic relations.
