Prospects for resuming the export of Polish poultry to China

30.07.2025

The Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak talked at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with the chargé d'affaires of the People's Republic of China in Poland, Li Danhong, about the prospects for resuming the export of Polish poultry meat to the Chinese market.

Prospects for resuming the export of Polish poultry to China

– We are expecting an agreement with the authorities of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) on the matter of restoring the possibility of shipping poultry meat – our flagship export product. We are systematically working on lifting by the Chinese authorities the import ban introduced in connection with the outbreaks of avian influenza and on agreeing on the conditions for the application of regionalisation, which are beneficial to both parties – said the Deputy Minister Jacek Czerniak.

The Secretary of State stressed that the Polish Ministry of Agriculture was ready for further intense work and arrangements with the Chinese party, aimed at ensuring the uninterrupted export of poultry meat from Poland. The Chinese party declared its support for Polish efforts.

Both parties stressed that they expected rapprochement of their positions during another videoconference with the participation of Polish and Chinese experts, planned to be held in the near future.

Agri-food export to the Chinese market

In 2024, the agri-food export from Poland to China reached a level of EUR 145.7 million. We sold mainly milk products, down and feathers, chocolate and chocolate products, pastry.

Restoring the possibility of exporting Polish poultry meat to the Chinese market should contribute to balancing bilateral trade in agri-food products, whose balance is currently unfavourable for Poland.
