Support for Polish entrepreneurs participating in the APAS Show fair
The Secretary of State Stefan Krajewski met and talked with all Polish exhibitors. With the representatives of the Foreign Trade Office of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (ZBH PAIH) in São Paolo, he discussed the best methods to support Polish agri-food companies in their commercial expansion in the Brazilian market, and during a panel dedicated to a discussion on the long-term purchasing strategy of the largest food distributors in Brazil, he encouraged importers to contact Polish entrepreneurs as reliable suppliers of high quality food.
Polish-Brazilian talks
When talking with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of Brazil Marcel Moreira, the Secretary of State Stefan Krajewski stressed the need for the Brazilian market to open up wider to food from Poland.
– Such specific measures will help reduce the very significant imbalance in bilateral agri-food trade. Currently, we have a high negative balance in Polish agri-food trade with Brazil. I am convinced that opening up the Brazilian market to new categories of Polish food products will be the best method to change this situation – said Deputy Minister Krajewski.
The chairman of the Polish delegation presented to the Brazilian authorities demands concerning, among others, the acceleration of the access procedure for Polish apples, recognition of the principle of regionalisation in the field of animal diseases, approval of beef and pork establishments interested in export, as well as the possibility of shipping fishery products, eggs, chicks and wheat.
Deputy Minister Moreira assured of his support in the faster completion of Polish-Brazilian agreements, with particular consideration given to those regarding procedures for apples.
Prospects for the development of Polish agri-food export to Brazil
Also, meetings with the representatives of Brazilian industry associations, including the President of the São Paulo Supermarket Association APAS, were also an opportunity to discuss the possibilities of increasing the Polish agri-food export to Brazil. Deputy Minister Krajewski and President Erlon Carlos Godoy Ortega exchanged views on the prospects for the development of Polish export to Brazil.
When talking with the management of the region’s largest wholesale market of trade, among others, vegetables, fruit and fishery products, CEAGESP, Deputy Minister Krajewski stressed the enormous Polish export potential in the agri-food sector.
The state of Polish-Brazilian trade
The current sales results for the Brazilian market amount to EUR 61 million (2024). We export mainly malt, pastry, chocolate and sweets, processed food products. Brazil has a significant advantage in bilateral trade, due to the scale of import of products for the production of feedstuffs for farm animals (soybean oil cakes).
The aim of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is to constantly increase the results of export of Polish agri-food products to Brazil.
