The Poland-Texas program has been connecting the young farmers for years. The participants of this-year's edition paid a visit to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development

The participants of the Poland-Texas Young Farmer Exchange Program 2026 held a meeting with Deputy Minister Adam Nowak in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. While in Poland, they will gain knowledge on how the domestic agriculture operates, visit the sector-supporting institutions and agricultural holdings. The solutions related to retention and water management in agriculture draw particular interest of the participants.
– I am deeply thankful for another visit to Poland and for many years of involvement in development of this program. It has been supporting the young farmers from Poland and Texas in gaining knowledge on the new solutions and sharing experience for years. The greatest value of this program is direct contacts between the farmers – said the Undersecretary of State Adam Nowak.
Many years of cooperation between Poland and Texas
The meeting was attended by the students and young farmers from the Texas A&M University and by Professor Marek Mazurkiewicz, who has been organising the exchange between Poland and Texas for many years. Since May 2026, Professor Mazurkiewicz has been also acting as the honorary consul in Bryan, Texas.
The program participants will see the agricultural holdings in various voivodeships, pay visits to public institutions and scientific centres related to agriculture. They will familiarise with everyday work of the famers and the solutions applied in the family farms. A group of young Polish farmers will also go to the United States in July.
The Poland-Texas exchange program has been operating since 2011 and had 1400 participants. Each year, the young farmers from Poland and Texas visit the farms on the other side of the Atlantic. This enables them gaining information on the solutions applied in the agricultural production, education and agricultural advisory.
Polish institutions supporting agriculture
During the meeting, the guests gained knowledge on the activities of the Ministry’s of Agriculture and Rural Development experts, aimed at development of agriculture in Poland . The meeting participants discussed the benefits from the Poland’s membership in the European Union and financial support in the form of payments for farmers under the Common Agricultural Policy. They also presented the currently available aid programs for young farmers. Deputy Minister Adam Nowak pictured the role of the Agriculture Restructurisation and Modernisation Agency, National Support Centre for Agriculture and the agricultural advisory centres.
The guests asked among others among the functioning of the farmer support system, agricultural education and activity of the research institutes and agricultural advisory centres.
Water retention in the visit agenda
The program participants express their interest in the solutions related to water resources management and retention. This issue is of particular importance for Texas, which has been struggling with water deficiency for years.
The visit agenda covered also the meetings in the National Support Centre for Agriculture and the National Institute of Horticultural Research in Skierniewice. Following the meetings in the agriculture-related institutions, the program participants will pay a visit to the Polish agricultural holdings. The practical aspect of the program is a unique experience providing the young Texans with the view on the Polish agricultural sector.
