7th DISE Energy Congress

Energy transition to Poland and the European Green Deal are the main topics discussed during the 7th DISE Energy Congress. The event held on 29 September 2021 was attended by the Vice-Ministers of Climate and Environment, Ireneusz Zyska and Piotr Dziadzio.

As emphasized during the opening ceremony by Vice-Minister Piotr Dziadzio, the greatest challenge of the energy transition is achievement of the EU climate objectives with simultaneous ensuring the energy security.

We have developed numerous solutions in this area, implementation of which may enable us reducing the emissions and, in longer time perspective, also the costs

– he said.

Vice-Minister Dziadzio participated also in the thematic session “Reform of energy sector in Poland as the condition of effective economic transformation and recovery after COVID-19 pandemic”, during which he pointed out at the key role in electrification of economy to be played by power grids.

Large investments in the construction and modernisation of transmission and distribution grids are a must. We should not forget so called smart energy grids facilitating among others flexible energy distribution

– he noted.

The Vice-Minister stressed also that the stable production sources are the pillar of the national energy security.

In our geographical location, the renewable energy sources are insufficient to ensure stability of energy system alone. Poland will withdraw from fossil fuels on a wide scale only after construction of the first nuclear reactors

– he summed up.

During the “Energy transition as a tool for recovery after COVID-10 pandemic” panel, Vice-Minister of Climate and Environment Ireneusz Zyska drew everybody’s attention to the role of the Polish Energy Policy until 2040 document.

The transition is supposed to establishment of the new energy system. It is a great challenge. According to the assumptions of the Polish Energy Policy until 2040, the energy transition will foster economic development, effectiveness and competitiveness – as a driving force of economic development and creation of well-paid jobs

– he said.

Vice-Minister Zyska emphasized also that the energy transition process should benefit from the Polish intellectual property and domestic technologies.

The superior objective of the Ministry of Climate and Environment is to support the RES sector in Poland, including in particular maximisation of local content i.e. the share of Polish entrepreneurs in the supply chain

– he summed up.
