    The new programme, financed by the Norwegian and EEA Grants, will provide Poland with EUR 160 million for measures to accelerate the climate and energy transition. The funds will be allocated to projects related to climate, energy, nature conservation and the circular economy. The programme will be operated by the Ministry of Climate and Environment, with the support of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. On 20 April 2026, in the presence of Krzysztof Bolesta, Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment, signed an agreement for the implementation of the programme.

    The Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) has requested documents relating to the Clean Air Programme from the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM) and voivodship funds, covering the period from June 2021. CBA officers are acting on behalf of the European Public Prosecutor's Office, which is conducting an investigation into alleged dereliction of duty by public officials in connection with the drafting of operational guidelines and the implementation of subsequent stages of the Clean Air Programme. The Ministry had reported possible irregularities linked to changes to the programme introduced in 2022 and 2023.

    The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM) has signed an agreement with ORLEN Termika S.A. to co-finance the construction of a wastewater heat recovery system at the Żerań Wastewater Pumping Station in Warsaw. The investment is a strategic project that addresses both increasingly stringent environmental requirements and the needs of Warsaw's residents for a stable heat supply.

    The Ministry of Climate and Environment has taken responsibility for preparing the Long-Term Climate Strategy (LTS), a key document setting out the direction of Poland's climate and energy transition until 2050. Completion of the work is scheduled for the end of 2026.

    Since the system's launch - effectively over the past three months - Poles have returned 520 million cans and bottles bearing the deposit mark. The latest figures confirm that the deposit return system is not only operating at full capacity, but is also bringing about real changes in consumers' daily habits and the packaging market. The effects are already visible today - in a cleaner environment and a growing proportion of materials being recycled.

    Coral reefs are a vital component of marine ecosystems that are disappearing at an alarming rate, partly due to illegal trade. The Mazovian Regional Office of the National Revenue Administration (Krajowa Administracja Skarbowa, KAS) has blocked an attempt to smuggle over a thousand reef-building corals from Indonesia. Thanks to cooperation between the National Revenue Administration and experts from the Central Animal Shelter and the Orientarium in Łódź, the animals were rescued. Although the seized specimens will not be returned to the wild, they will be incorporated into breeding programmes and will also form part of important educational initiatives.

    The Ministry of Climate and Environment has launched the website of the National Contact Point for Renewable Energy Sources (NCP RES). The portal has been created primarily for individuals and entities interested in generating energy from renewable sources who may lack sufficient experience in implementing such investments. The functionalities offered by NCP RES are designed to support users throughout the entire investment process by providing reliable information on renewable energy investment procedures and practical guidance on their implementation.

    The Poznań-based company Aquanet has secured PLN 34.5 million from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment (FEnIKS) programme. Thanks to these funds, more residents of the Greater Poland capital, Luboń, and the municipalities of Czerwonak, Kórnik, Mosina and Murowana Goślina will gain access to the sewerage network. The Minister of Climate and Environment, Paulina Hennig-Kloska, attended the signing ceremony.

    The Central Animal Shelter will be Poland's first state-funded specialist facility for the temporary holding of animals, including dangerous or protected species. The centre will be built in the village of Warszawianka (Lesznowola municipality). Following the selection of the contractor for the centre's design documentation, a meeting was held on 31 March 2026 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Climate and Environment, attended by Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment Mikołaj Dorożała.
