Deputy Minister Krzysztof Galos, Chief National Geologist, met with Stephanie Holmes, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Poland, to discuss the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of geology and mineral resources

During the talks, which took place on 22 July 2026 in Warsaw, Deputy Minister Krzysztof Galos proudly emphasised that Poland is the first European Union Member State to have entered into an individual strategic partnership with the U.S. government concerning critical raw materials.

During the meeting, discussions centred on opportunities to deepen cooperation, including the exchange of data and expertise related to monitoring the market for critical raw materials. It was emphasised that, in connection with the implementation of the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act, Poland plans to establish a Raw Materials Analysis Centre. The U.S. experience in this area would be of great value to our country.
Mention was also made of deepening cooperation by establishing links between geological services. This issue will be explored further.
It was reported that Poland is seeking to strengthen cooperation on investment opportunities in the mining and mineral processing sectors. The Chief National Geologist highlighted potential opportunities for United States entities to cooperate in strategic projects being implemented in Poland and other initiatives, such as those in the field of recycling.
Another topic discussed was the possibility for Poland to join the Forum on Resource Geostrategic Engagement (FORGE).
Poland sees FORGE as an important platform for strengthening international cooperation between participating countries and supporting the development of sound policies on mineral resources

He also expressed his gratitude for the commitment shown and the work done within the G20 on issues related to critical raw materials. At this forum, Poland emphasises the importance of transparency in geological processes, the exchange of geological data and the efficient management of resources, including a focus on recycling and the maximum utilisation of geological deposits.
Secure and diversified supply chains for critical minerals are of fundamental importance for the energy transition, the development of advanced technologies, the defence sector and long-term economic competitiveness

Poland is determined to work closely with the United States and like-minded partners to promote responsible resource extraction, sustainable mining practices and the highest environmental standards
