More energy for electromobility. New connections for charging stations will be installed

27.07.2026

A total of 147 energy supply points for zero-emission transport will be built or expanded in Poland. The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM) and distribution system operators have signed agreements for the implementation of projects related to the expansion and modernisation of power grids to support publicly accessible high-power charging stations. This creates conditions for the further development of electromobility and zero-emission transport in Poland.

The photograph shows the Deputy Minister standing at a lectern and gesturing animatedly. The flags of the European Union and Poland can be seen behind him.

Highlights

  • The total value of the funding is PLN 1.26 billion. The money comes from the Modernisation Fund.
  • The investments will boost the development of charging infrastructure, support the achievement of AFIR targets and prepare the national power grid for the growing needs of zero-emission transport.
  • The event was attended by: Krzysztof Bolesta, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Climate and Environment; Dorota Zawadzka-Stępniak, President of the Management Board of NFEP&WM; Paweł Augustyn, Deputy President of the Management Board of NFEP&WM, and members of the management boards of ENEA Operator, ENERGA-OPERATOR, PGE Dystrybucja and TAURON Dystrybucja, as well as Mirosław Suchoń, Chair of the Sejm’s Infrastructure Committee.

We are actively supporting the electrification of transport. This is a helping hand offered to transport operators to help them reach the next level of competitiveness – and that is precisely what this programme is for. For distribution network operators, it is also a key element in modernising infrastructure and facilitating the connection of new charging points. PLN 2 billion for networks, PLN 2 billion for charging infrastructure and PLN 2 billion for electric lorries – these are the funds being channelled into strengthening the competitiveness of Polish transport operators

– said Deputy Minister Krzysztof Bolesta during the signing by the NFEP&WM of contracts for investments related to the expansion and modernisation of power grids to support publicly accessible high-power charging stations.

The energy transition is one of the NFEP&WM top priorities. We support investments that strengthen energy security, boost the economy’s competitiveness and prepare Poland for the development of modern technologies. The expansion of power infrastructure is an essential part of this process

– said Dorota Zawadzka-Stępniak, President of the Management Board of the NFEP&WM.

Infrastructure for modern transport

Under the six contracts signed, 147 power supply points will be built or upgraded, and the total connection capacity of the new and modernised connections will amount to 493 MW.

The investments will be implemented in thirteen voivodships: Dolnośląskie (Lower Silesia), Śląskie (Silesia), Opolskie, Małopolskie (Lesser Poland), Podkarpackie (Subcarpathia), Łódzkie, Wielkopolskie (Greater Poland), Pomorskie (Pomerania), Zachodniopomorskie (West Pomerania), Kujawsko-Pomorskie (Kuyavia-Pomerania), Lubuskie (Lubusz), Warmińsko-Mazurskie (Warmia-Masuria) and Mazowieckie (Masovia). They will cover both major transport routes and logistics centres, as well as locations crucial for the development of charging infrastructure.

The agreements signed today will lead to tangible results in many regions of Poland. Thanks to these investments, 147 energy supply points will be built or expanded. This is a key element necessary for the creation of further high-power charging stations, and thus for the development of zero-emission transport

– added Paweł Augustyn, Deputy President of the Management Board of NFEP&WM.

Support for the achievement of AFIR’s objectives

The projects receiving funding form part of the implementation of the AFIR (Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation), which aims to establish a modern and coherent network of alternative fuels infrastructure across the European Union.

New connection options will enable the development of high-power charging stations for heavy goods vehicles and increase the availability of infrastructure on key national and European routes.
Modernisation Fund

The Modernisation Fund is a financial instrument financed by proceeds from the sale of 4.5% of the total pool of CO2 emission allowances under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU-ETS). These allowances are sold in half-yearly tranches by the European Investment Bank. The money supports the modernisation of the energy system, improvements in energy efficiency and zero-emission transport in Poland and 12 other EU countries. It is estimated that Poland may receive approximately PLN 60 billion from the Modernisation Fund between 2021 and 2030. Pursuant to the Act on the Greenhouse Gas Emission Allowance Trading Scheme, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM) acts as the National Operator of the Modernisation Fund.
