Energy and climate priorities of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union were the main subject at the meeting of the Visegrad Group (V4) Ministers of Environment.

The event held on 12 January 2022 was attended by the Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment, Adam Guibourgé-Czetwertyński, representatives of the V4 countries while France was represented by Barbara Pompili, Minister of the Ecological Transition of France.

During the meeting, the key challenges related to climate and energy were discussed. The participants also discussed the issues related to the Fit for 55 package, with particular consideration given to: Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), expansion of the European Union Emissions Trading System, role of renewable energy sources and nuclear energy, energy needs and decarbonisation.

The representatives of the V4 countries expressed their opinion and doubts as to the above-mentioned issue, devoting particular attention to the matter of taxonomy and FIT55 packages.
