17.06.2021

Financing technology and fuels required in energy engineering and climate transformation, development plans for the use of hydrogen in the context of European Union and national strategies, the review of Trans European Energy Networks (TEN-E) were the key issues discussed by the Deputy Ministers for Energy from Poland, Czech Republic Hungary and Slovakia, held on 16 June 2021 as part of the Polish presidency in the Visegrad Group.

Wiceminister Guibourgé-Czetwertyński na spotkaniu wiceministrów energii V4

Establishing the Green Deal and the achievement of climate neutrality by the European Union requires very specific measures and investments. It is not possible to discuss the increase of the EU reduction goal without proposing an action plan for its implementation and financial support to enable each Member State to make the transition. If the concept of a fair energy transition is to be complied with, the specific features of individual EU countries and their individual needs must not be overlooked

– stressed Deputy Minister Guibourgé-Czetwertyński during the meeting.

In order to fully prepare the market to accept more low-carbon hydrogen in the future, it is necessary to develop hydrogen infrastructure and support supply by funding research and development and infrastructure projects. In the short to medium term, in addition to renewable hydrogen, other forms of low-carbon hydrogen should also be supported The European Partnership for Hydrogen Valleys could prove to be crucial for the adequate development of the hydrogen market in the future

– he added.

The meeting of V4 Deputy Ministers of Energy was the last event planned by the Ministry of Climate and Environment during the Polish V4 Presidency lasting from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021. Therefore, during the meeting, Deputy Minister Guibourgé-Czetwertyński thanked the partners from the V4 countries for the good cooperation during the last year under the Polish V4 Presidency.

On 30 June we hand the Presidency over to our Hungarian colleagues. I am convinced that together we will successfully tackle the many challenges of the clean energy transition. It will be particularly important to maintain the coherence of the V4 countries' positions in the EU negotiations of the – soon expected from the European Commission – “Fit for 55” legislative package.

– he said.
