Deputy Minister Zyska on clean energy from RES

04.02.2020

“Thanks to the creation of the Ministry of Climate, there is a new opening for the promotion and development of the use of renewable sources in the production of energy and heat in Poland”, said the Deputy Minister of Climate Ireneusz Zyska, Government Plenipotentiary for RES, at the “RE-Source Poland” conference. The event, organised by the Polish Wind Energy Association, was held on 4 February 2020 in Warsaw.

At the opening of the conference, Deputy Minister Zyska noted that the climate challenges the whole world is currently facing require urgent and effective actions aimed at, among others reduction of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere.

“The management of the Earth’s natural resources also has to change. They are not inexhaustible and their acquisition is becoming more and more difficult. The financial, environmental and human expenditure incurred in the extraction of raw materials is getting higher, while being less and less accepted by societies”, he said.

“Renewable energy sources in the form of wind, water, sun or biomass are our way out. Investment in them is a remedy for upcoming challenges, it can help maintain the quality of life of our society, and can also be an incentive for further development”, he added.

In the opinion of the Government Plenipotentiary for RES, the development of dispersed energy generation from renewable sources is an important area of energy development in Poland, aimed at the diversification of production, reduction of emissivity, energy security and meeting the climate goals.

“Our main goal will be to conduct effective actions that will have a real impact on improving air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and boost the development of RES in Poland. We want to have an open discussion with all the stakeholders, so that the solutions we develop bring visible effects”, said Deputy Minister Zyska.

New approach to renewable energy sources

As noted by Ireneusz Zyska, Government Plenipotentiary for RES, renewable energy sources are the area around which the energy system of the future should be built.

“RES found strong support in the expose of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, which is reflected, inter alia, in the appointment of a government plenipotentiary for renewable energy sources. I believe that coordination of activities in this area at the level of the entire government is crucial for making the development processes of this sector more dynamic”, he emphasised.

“We must ensure that Polish industry does not lose its competitive advantage due to the increase in energy prices. We are open to dialogue and cooperation that will open new opportunities for the development of renewable energy sources and provide Polish industry with access to clean and cheap electricity”, added Deputy Minister Zyska.
