Minister Moskwa: For a week, it has been possible to submit applications for the inflation allowance

11.01.2022

„For a week, it has been possible to submit applications for the inflation allowance which is a key element of the government anti-inflation shield. The support amounting to more than PLN 4 billion will be provided to nearly 7 million of households. This tool will reduce the current price rises” – said the Minister of Climate and Environment, Anna Moskwa, on 11 January 2022 during a press conference held at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

Minister Moskwa reiterated that the support under the inflation allowance will cover those Polish residents whose average monthly income does not exceed PLN 2,100 in one-person households or PLN 1,500 per capita in multi-person households.

The inflation allowance is the support – depending on income – from PLN 400 to more than PLN 1,400. Its amount is conditional upon the amount of income, number of household members and heating sources. Applications may be submitted in the nearest commune – it decides which entity will process them.

– she explained.

In the case of the inflation allowance, the so-called “PLN for PLN” principle will apply. This means that this allowance will be granted even after exceeding the income criterion and the amount of the allowance will be reduced by the amount of this exceedance. The minimum amount of paid inflation allowances will stand at PLN 20

– she added.

The Head of the Ministry of Climate and Environment, Anna Moskwa, also stressed that applications for the inflation allowance can be submitted by 31 January 2022. The payment of allowance will be implemented in 2022 in two equal instalments, i.e. by 31 March and by 2 December. Those who do not submit the application by the end of January, still will be able to apply for support. Then, they need to submit the application by 31 October 2022. In this case, the payment of 100% of the allowance will be implemented by 2 December 2022.

Automatic coverage of housing communities and cooperatives with the gas tariff

Anna Moskwa, Minister of Climate and Environment, also informed that the Government had adopted a draft act expanding the group of those eligible for gas tariffs.

Once the Act, which we adopted today at the meeting of the Council of Ministers, enters into force, automatically each housing cooperative and community will use the gas tariff with compensation from 1 January. This will not require any declarations or documents. This is a solution beneficial for citizens

– she stressed.

The Minister of Climate and Environment also added that hospitals, nurseries, cultural institutions would be able to switch to the gas tariff with regard to their basic activities, not economic activities, which will require a declaration.

This wide-ranging solution will allow to protect not only citizens but also establishments carrying out necessary tasks from the point of view of protecting citizens and state interests

– she said.
