Polsko-japońskie rozmowy o energetyce

Japan is one of the key non-European partners of Poland in energy and climate cooperation. On 28 December 2020, the Council of Minister acknowledged the works in the area of HTGR (High Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactors) and entrusted their performance to the Minister of Climate and Environment.

In the course of the meeting between the Minister of Climate and Environment and the Ambassador of Japan the schedule of works aiming at strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the area of HTGR technologies as well as the plans of constructing the experimental reactor in the National Centre for Nuclear Research in Świerk were discussed.

Research cooperation in the field of GTGR with Japan is the example of the most innovative research project implemented by the Ministry of Climate and Environment. The results of research on the experimental reactor of 30 MW capacity may be of a great importance for the Polish industry in terms of decarbonisation of economy and create the opportunities for commercial application of this technology, including on the third markets

- emphasized Minister Michał Kurtyka.

I am delighted of the opportunity of scientific cooperation with the Japanese party, which has a considerable scientific output in the field of the new technologies. The latest Nobel Prize in physics for the „physical modelling of Earth's climate” and “reliably predicting global warming" for among others Syukuro Manabe, is the best evidence for deep involvement and achievements of the Japanese in the area of climate

- added the Minister.
