Polish-Ukrainian cooperation in the energy and energy security sector in the context of Russian military aggression against Ukraine was the main topic of a conversation between Minister Anna Moskwa and Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko. The meeting took place on September 19, 2022, at the Ministry of Climate and Environment.
During the meeting, progress was discussed in implementing the provisions of the Memorandum on Energy Cooperation between the Ministry of Climate and Environment of the Republic of Poland and the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, signed in Kiev.
The reconstruction of the interconnector will enable the exchange of electricity between Poland and Ukraine
- Minister Anna Moskwa said.
The parties discussed the current status of preparations for restoring the interconnection of the Chmielnicka-Rzeszów NPP power line at 400 kV voltage level, as well as further preparatory work for the launch of the network.
Russia has been pursuing an aggressive energy policy for many years, and the armed assault on Ukraine and hostilities have further compounded the negative effects of excessive increases in electricity and gas prices across the EU. Cutting ourselves off from Russian influence will effectively affect Europe's energy stability, contribute to price stabilization, as well as the energy security of Poland and Ukraine
- Minister Anna Moskwa noted.
