Prime minister appointed Government Plenipotentiary for Renewable Energy Sources

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki appointed the Government Plenipotentiary for Renewable Energy Sources, Ireneusz Zyska, the Deputy Minister on Climate. The act of appointment was presented by Michał Kurtyka, the Minister of Climate.

Ireneusz Zyska is the secretary of state in the Ministry of Climate. At the same time, he is a member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland of the 9th term.

Ireneusz Zyska is a legal advisor. He completed law studies at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Wrocław and post-graduate studies at the University of Banking in Wrocław. He completed legal training in the District Chamber of Legal Advisers in Wałbrzych. He ran a legal advisor's office where he cooperated with large business entities, including companies listed on the WSE.

In the Sejm of the 9th term he worked in the Energy and Treasury Committee, as well as founded and chaired the work of the Parliamentary Mining and Energy Team. It has become a nationwide platform for substantive discussion and shaping opinions on the transformation of the Polish energy sector, including the development of renewable energy sources (RES).

The appointment of the Government Plenipotentiary for RES is aimed at intensifying and coordinating activities at the level of government structures, serving the development of renewable energy sources in Poland.

The tasks of the plenipotentiary will include undertaking and coordinating activities aimed at developing renewable energy sources, in particular offshore wind energy, agricultural biogas, bioliquids, alternative fuels, as well as electromobility and energy storage, and also improving energy efficiency. Furthermore, the plenipotentiary will analyse the development directions and the possibilities of using high-temperature reactors.

The plenipotentiary will also deal with the elimination of barriers limiting the development of renewable energy sources, formulating recommendations for the government administration bodies, issuing opinions on draft documents relevant to shaping state policy in this respect, promotion of renewable energy, distributed energy, prosumer energy, energy clusters and energy cooperatives.
