Sztum Circular Economy - Respond To The Contemporary Climate Challenges

The Minister of Climate and Environment, supported by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM), as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs of the conclusion of the agreement on co-financing Sztum Circular Economy - Respond To The Contemporary Climate Challenges project.

The beneficiary of the project is the Sztum Commune.

About the project

The project obtained co-financing in the call for proposals Strengthened implementation of Circular Economy under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The project is co-financed in 85% by the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Program of the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (of which 85% comes from the EEA Financial Mechanism and 15% from the national budget).

The total cost of the project is EUR 1,1 M (over PLN 5 M), of which the maximum amount of co-financing is almost EUR 1 M (PLN 4,3 M).

The project implemented by the Sztum Commune includes investment and soft (educational) activities, which allow improving the level of knowledge about the circular economy and combined with the transfer of knowledge and skills will increase the innovation in the field of CE processes.

The Sztum Circular Economy project envisages, among other things, creation of a selective waste collection point as well as a repair, storage and exhibition hall in Sztum. The project will be complemented by information and education activities. The project involves the creation of a book of good practices, which will present the most interesting and inspiring activities implemented by Polish and Norwegian municipalities and NGOs to promote the circular economy among their residents, which might be replicated in the future, and the creation of an educational and promotional publication for the youngest concerning adaptation to climate change.

Implementation period

The agreement for the funding was signed on 10th May 2022.

Partnership

The project is conducted with the Norwegian partner International Development Norway. The Polish partners of the project are Association of Polish Communes Euroregion Baltic and the Gdańsk University of Technology.
