Third day of the TOGETAIR Climate Summit

23.04.2021

“Polish New Deal and National Reconstruction Plan – ecology as an opportunity for innovation development, economic growth and improvement of health in Poland” is the subject of a debate organised at the third day of the TOGETAIR Climate Summit. The event, which took place on 23 April 2021, was attended by Michał Kurtyka, Minister of Climate and Environment.

Minister klimatu i środowiska Michał Kurtyka

During the conference, Minister Kurtyka emphasised that the climate and energy transformation offers many opportunities for the Polish economy.

Our energy assets are ageing. The technological developments that have taken place over the last 10 years are unprecedented. The costs of technologies such as photovoltaics and lithium-ion batteries decreased tenfold. These are opportunities in different fields and, above all, we are able to improve our trade balance in this way,

he said.

Minister Kurtyka also pointed to the importance of investments in ecology that occurred during the coronavirus pandemic.

Investments in ecology during the COVID-19 pandemic were a kind of crisis shield. Clean Air and My Electricity are programmes that had their important share in this, by becoming a lever for the photovoltaic industry,

he said.

Head of the ministry of climate emphasised, that changes taking place in the markets give rise to an opportunity for highly paid jobs in sectors that are yet to develop.

This trend is already visible. Poland has put on the electro-mobility. We are the largest exporter of electric buses in the European Union. Already every one in two electrical buses is labelled “made in Poland”. We are also the largest manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries in Europe,

he stressed.
