02.09.2021
“Digital technologies in the State Forests contribute to protection of forest wildlife. The benefits from using a drone include the immediate inventory and rapid response. We may also monitor the protected species” – said Vice-Minister of Climate and Environment, Edward Siarka during the CYBERSEC Forum in Krynica-Zdrój. This is one of the most influential conferences in Europe, with a mission to strengthen and emphasize the socio-economic capacity of inter-regional cooperation. The Vice-Minister actively attended the panel on the latest technologies in forest management.
The IT systems applied by the State Forests are a strategic tool in forest management and allow detection of fire risks.
The state-of-the-art visual recording systems, such as thermal imaging cameras, drones and photo traps, are effectively used in tackling forest littering. We observe a drop in reprehensible behaviours that damage the beautiful forest landscape – emphasized Vice-Minister Siarka.
Using the advanced technologies supports estimation of game damage, monitoring forest condition or assessment of damages caused by hurricanes. The new technologies enable rapid responding to sudden events and proper estimation of wood volume. The Forest Data Bank application is the database obtained from various projects and available to each citizen.
