Poland in the Council of Europe

On 1 December 2023, a Charity Market for Ukraine was held at the Council of Europe with the participation of member states and observers to the organization. The aim of the event was to raise funds for a 3D printer, enabling faster production of temporary prostheses, which will be donated to the Superhumans Center - a world class medical center that provides free assistance to Ukrainian soldiers injured on the front.

On November 30th, on the occasion of the 3rd meeting of the Council of Europe Contact Group on Belarus, the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the Council of Europe organized a concert by the Polish-Belarusian band Ulyánica, which performed ethno-jazz music of the Polesia region.

The Government of Poland has made a voluntary contribution of approximately €162,000 to support: - Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023 and its successor action plan, - Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2021-2024, - Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction” 2023-2026. 

On November 16th, a Polish candidate, Prof. Aleksandra Mężykowska was elected to the board of the Register of Damages Caused by Russian Aggression against Ukraine. The management board  consists of representatives of Italy, Finland, the USA, Iceland, Germany and Ukraine.

On November 9, 2023, the Council of Europe hosted a presentation of Poland's candidate for the Register of damage caused by Russian aggression against Ukraine with representatives of missions accredited to the Council of Europe/Participants and Associate Members of the Register, Prof. Aleksandra Mężykowska. Representatives of 33 countries took part in the meeting.

On November 8, during the 1480th session of the Committee of Delegates of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the EU delegation delivered a speech on the International Day of Solidarity with Belarus, which falls on November 12.

The 14th Warsaw Human Rights Seminar was held on 24 October 2023, marking the 30th anniversary of Poland’s accession to the European Convention on Human Rights.

On September 25, 2023, the Permanent Representation of Poland to the Council of Europe, in cooperation with the Permanent Representation of Ukraine to the Council of Europe, organized a screening of the documentary film "Erase The Nation" directed by Tomasz Grzywaczewski. After the film screening, there was a panel discussion with the director of the documentary and the Director for Democratic Participation in the Council of Europe - Matjaž Gruden.
