Poland in the Council of Europe

The Government of Poland has made a voluntary contribution of approximately €162,000 to support: - Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023 and its successor action plan, - Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2021-2024, - Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction” 2023-2026. 

On November 16th, a Polish candidate, Prof. Aleksandra Mężykowska was elected to the board of the Register of Damages Caused by Russian Aggression against Ukraine. The management board  consists of representatives of Italy, Finland, the USA, Iceland, Germany and Ukraine.

On November 9, 2023, the Council of Europe hosted a presentation of Poland's candidate for the Register of damage caused by Russian aggression against Ukraine with representatives of missions accredited to the Council of Europe/Participants and Associate Members of the Register, Prof. Aleksandra Mężykowska. Representatives of 33 countries took part in the meeting.

On November 8, during the 1480th session of the Committee of Delegates of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the EU delegation delivered a speech on the International Day of Solidarity with Belarus, which falls on November 12.

The 14th Warsaw Human Rights Seminar was held on 24 October 2023, marking the 30th anniversary of Poland’s accession to the European Convention on Human Rights.

On September 25, 2023, the Permanent Representation of Poland to the Council of Europe, in cooperation with the Permanent Representation of Ukraine to the Council of Europe, organized a screening of the documentary film "Erase The Nation" directed by Tomasz Grzywaczewski. After the film screening, there was a panel discussion with the director of the documentary and the Director for Democratic Participation in the Council of Europe - Matjaž Gruden.

The 12th Annual Advisory Forum on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe was held on September 20-22, 2023 in Łódź. The main theme of the event was "Cultural Routes - social and creative dimensions of cultural heritage in a post-industrial perspective".

On September 10, 2023, the beatification Mass of Józef and Wiktoria Ulma, and their seven children, was held in Markowa – the place of family’s death – in the Podkarpacie region.

On May 17-18, the 4th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe was held in Reykjavik.

On April 25th, on the margins of the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, a seminar organized by the Polish side was held on the right to just and equal redress, and the assess to court and fair trial for all victims of the German aggression during the second World War.
