13.03.2022

Citizens of Ukraine who legally stay in Poland will be able to pursue business activity in the territory of our country on the same terms as Polish citizens. The legislation in this matter has been prepared by the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology.

The President of the Republic of Poland signed the Act on assistance to citizens of Ukraine in connection with the armed conflict in the territory of this country. It contains a special legal regulation which defines the rules for setting up and pursuing business activity by citizens of Ukraine who legally stay in the territory of Poland.

In connection with the extremely difficult situation of citizens of Ukraine, resulting from the unprecedented aggression of Russian troops against their country, we have prepared special business regulations for them. The objective of introducing these solutions is to make it easier to set up and pursue business activity in Poland for citizens of Ukraine, who – what is important – stay here legally and their identity is confirmed. This is another solution supporting the war refugees temporarily staying in Poland

– said the Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Piotr Nowak.

How citizens of Ukraine can set up and pursue business activity in Poland

The regulations that are to allow to open and run companies, are addressed to citizens of Ukraine coming to Poland in connection with the hostilities that started on 24 February 2022 and to those who came to Poland earlier and stay here legally pursuant to the provisions of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners (they have, for example, a temporary residence and work permit).

The proposed solutions envisage that citizens of Ukraine who legally stay in Poland can set up and pursue business activity in the territory of our country on the same terms as Polish citizens. In order to ensure the security of business transactions, they will be obliged to have a PESEL number. Citizens of Ukraine who entered Poland legally after 24 February 2022 will be able to obtain such a number at the municipal office, after confirming their identity.
