The initiatives taken by the Ministry

Ministry of Economic Development and Technology - what are our tasks?

At the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, we are working on a coherent social and economic development of Poland. We are responsible for the following administrative sectors: the economy, construction and housing.

The Polish economy

We cooperate with entrepreneurs, employees and social organisations in order to establish the best possible conditions for the development of Polish companies, which are the driving force behind the Polish economy. The cooperation includes both the larger companies, bearing significant industrial potential, as well as smaller and micro businesses.

In the light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have co-created the Anti-Crisis shield in order to protect jobs and help businesses to maintain liquidity. We coordinated the works related to the Laws constituting the so-called Anti-Crisis Shield 1.0 and the Anti-Crisis Shield 4.0.

Our strategic goal is to modernise our economy in technological and ecological terms (industry 4.0, digitisation and automation, green technologies, closed-loop economy). These measures aim to increase the competitiveness of the Polish economy on the global markets.

We are also working to support the development of Polish craftsmanship in order to help it to preserve its tradition on the one hand, to remain relevant, on the other.
We are also responsible for shaping the investment policy in the Polish Investment/Special Economic Zones. We are committed to the sustainable development of the country in terms of saturating it with investment and rewarding the creation of high-quality jobs.

We are also shaping Polish trade policy. And within the EU, we are cooperating on EU policies on industry, competitiveness and the single market.

Housing and construction

Since the end of 2019, we have been working to develop the construction industry in Poland, increase the availability of flats and to socialise the real estate market. For this purpose, we engage in multidimensional activities - ranging from the de-bureaucratisation and modernisation of spatial planning procedures and construction processes, through the implementation of programmes aiming to develop new flats, to disseminate new housing models, up until the promotion of the notion of intelligent cities.
