Appointed as the Minister of Economic Development and Technology on 13 December 2023.

His professional career started in 1999 in the Open Pension Fund. He worked as a deputy director between July 2002 and August 2005 and since May 2007 as the Head of Department of Regional Development in the Marshal Office in Lublin. The scope of responsibilities at this position covered among others implementation of the EU programmes and spatial planning.

Deputy Minister of Regional Development between December 2007 and December 2010. Responsible for the supervision over implementation of the Development of Eastern Poland Programme, Regional Operational Programmes (ROPs) and of the European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) and European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument 2007-2013 programmes in Poland.

President of the Voivodeship Board of the Polish People’s Party in Lublin since June 2010. On 1 December 2010 elected as the Marshal of the Lublin Voivodeship. On 30 June 2014, Krzysztof Hetman became the Member of the European Parliament. He acted as the member of the Committee on Regional Development, Committee on Employment and Social Affairs and the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety.

Elected as the member of the tenth term in the elections to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland held in October 2023.

Krzysztof Hetman graduated from the Faculty of Political Science at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin. In 2002 he completed postgraduate studies at the University College of Enterprise and Administration in Lublin.

Married, father of two daughters.
