Minister Piotr Nowak signed an agreement for the development of photovoltaics

The development of the domestic photovoltaic equipment industry by building a new, innovative sector of the economy - the PV industry - and the participation of Polish companies in the mobilisation and consolidation of the domestic photovoltaic supply chain - this is the aim of the sectoral agreement which was signed on Thursday by Minister Piotr Nowak on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology.

The document was also signed by Secretary of State at the Ministry of Climate and Environment, Government Plenipotentiary for RES Ireneusz Zyska, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Anna Gembicka, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education and Science Włodzimierz Bernacki, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of State Assets Andrzej Śliwka and Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Finance Piotr Patkowski. The ceremony was also attended by industry investors, representatives of science, business and financial institutions.

Sectoral agreement of the photovoltaic industry

The agreement is to be a permanent platform for cooperation between government administration and industry, manufacturing and service companies, science, business environment institutions for the development of photovoltaic industry sector in Poland.

It is to strengthen the so-called national local content, i.e. the participation of Polish entrepreneurs, workers, technology and capital in the value chain. It also aims to strengthen the export of goods and services of entrepreneurs who participate in the local supply chain.

The signing of the document is expected to increase the resilience of Poland's industry and economic security in strategic sectors and future technologies.

The strength and competitiveness of the Polish economy will also be strengthened, which is one of the objectives of the Polish Order.

Energy transformation of the Polish economy

The agreement signed on Thursday is already the fourth document of this kind. Previous sectoral agreements concerned off-shore development, hydrogen, biogas and biomethane-based economy.

Work on the preparation of the agreement has been ongoing since September 2020, when a letter of intent to establish a partnership for the development of the PV industry and to conclude a sectoral agreement was signed by the Ministry of Climate and Environment and sector representatives.
