    The Gold Heart – symbol of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity – will take a journey to space. It is to be carried there by Sławosz Uznański - a Polish astronaut who will travel to the International Space Station next year. On 30 December, in presence of the Minister of Economic Development and Technology Krzysztof Paszyk, Jurek Owsiak officially gave the heart over to make it find its way to space.

    Today, the Government looked into the draft act on conditions of permissibility of employing foreigners in the territory of the Republic of Poland. On request of the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, the provisions on the obligatory employment contracts for the foreigners, which were extremely unfavourable and criticised by the entrepreneurs, were deleted. Also the extended control competences of the State Labour Inspection and of the Border Guard targeting the entrepreneurs employing the foreigners in Poland are to be deleted from the draft – informed Minister Krzysztof Paszyk at the press conference.

    The Minister of Economic Development and Technology held the video conference with the Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maroš Šefčovič and the representatives of Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Czech, Portugal, Luxembourg, Estonia and Malta. The key challenges in trade and economic security, including Poland’s reservations about the Mercosur agreement were discussed during the meeting.

    “Ignis”, which means “fire” – that’s how the official name of the Polish technological and scientific mission to the International Space Station sounds. Both the official name of the mission and its key objectives were unveiled today at the Copernicus Science Centre. – We often underestimate the impact of space technologies on our lives. I deeply believe that the today’s event will be a quantum leap in the life of each of us and also a big step forward for the Polish economy – emphasized the Minister of Economic Development and Technology Krzysztof Paszyk.

    The Mercosur agreement may prove to be very dangerous for consumers. As we are committed to quality of the European food, yesterday the Polish government adopted the resolution which is extremely critical to this agreement – stressed Minister Krzysztof Paszyk during his visit to Brussels. As part of the visit, the head of MEDT attended the meeting of the EU Competitiveness Council and met with the future Commissioners of the European Commission.
