Poland sets the direction for Europe’s development – Minister Andrzej Domański at Impact’26

For two days, Poznań became the centre of the European debate on the future of the economy, technology and innovation. During the Impact’26 conference, representatives of business, government and academia discussed the future direction of Europe and the global economy.

In his address, Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domański stressed that Poland and the Polish people have the ambition to actively shape the future. He noted that, for the first time in centuries, Poland is not catching up with Europe, but setting its direction.

Today, we are the fastest-growing economy in the EU. This year, we are participating in the work of the #G20. Poland’s economic transformation is cited around the world as an example of successful and effective reforms. Our economic position is growing stronger year by year, and it is the Polish people who have built this position – through their energy, hard work and commitment

– said Minister Domański.

During the event, Minister Andrzej Domański also presented a long-term development goal for Poland:

I want Poland to be among Europe’s three most influential and strongest economies in ten years’ time. This is not about #GDP, but about the ability to influence the direction in which Europe is heading. It is an ambitious goal, but these are the kinds of goals we must set ourselves

– stressed the head of the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology.

Poland of the Future – a space for innovation and investment

As part of the conference, the ‘Poland of the Future’ zone was created – a joint project of the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, PFR, BGK, KUKE, the Warsaw Stock Exchange and POLSA. It showcased how new engines of growth for the Polish economy are being built.

The zone was divided into three thematic sections: ‘Capital Impulse’, ‘Growth Accelerator’ and ‘Poland of the Future’. Each presented different areas of modern economic development – from investment and the capital market, through support for innovative companies and the energy transition, to space technologies and artificial intelligence.

The Polish economy at the heart of the international debate

One of the most important highlights of the conference was a debate on the global economic outlook featuring Minister Andrzej Domański and International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

If we had not joined the #EU, our #GDP would be around 30% lower. We have benefited greatly from access to the single market

– emphasised Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domański.

During the panel, considerable attention was devoted to the success of Poland’s economic transformation. The Minister recalled that the Polish economy had grown from USD 67 billion in 1989 to USD 1 trillion in 2025. This was possible not only thanks to the reforms of the 1990s, but also thanks to EU membership.

We are proud of the success of the Polish economy. We are currently the fastest-growing economy in the #EU. We are participating in the work of the #G20. But we need to focus on the future, on what we can still improve and develop

– said Minister Domański during a press conference with the IMF Managing Director at Impact’26.

Discussions on development, investment and the future of Europe

The Impact conference provided an opportunity to present Polish development projects and build cooperation between the public and private sectors. The Minister stressed that Poland’s further development requires investment in modern technologies, innovation, energy security and strengthening the competitiveness of Polish companies in international markets.

Poland is currently the best place to invest, certainly in Europe and perhaps even in the world. This is where investments can deliver the best results and rates of return. We are creating tools to enable Polish capital to build the strength of the Polish economy

– added Minister Domański.
