19.10.2021

This year we celebrate the 25th anniversary of Poland's membership in the OECD. On this occasion the Ministry of Development and Technology took the initiative to have the Polish Post issue a commemorative stamp "25 years of Poland in the OECD". The official presentation of the stamp was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister Grzegorz Piechowiak and representatives of the management of the Polish Post.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development has been setting standards for economic regulation and law in the world for 60 years. It was also the first grouping of the Western world to which our country was invited and accepted after the political changes of 1989. This cooperation, which has lasted for a quarter of a century, has brought many benefits to the Polish economy and society. On this occasion, among numerous promotional and informational activities, we also issued a commemorative stamp, said Deputy Minister of Development and Technology Grzegorz Piechowiak.

When 25 years ago Poland joined the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development - OECD - on equal terms, it de facto returned to the group of Western countries. From this event our road to the structures of NATO and the European Union began. We marked the anniversary with a stamp symbolising the OECD members' common aspiration to achieve the highest possible level of economic growth and living standards for their citizens, in line with the organisation's main objective. - says Tomasz Zdzikot, President of the Management Board of Poczta Polska.

The philatelic issue of the occasional stamp '25 years of Poland in the OECD' is part of promotional and informational activities related to the jubilee celebrations of our activity in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

Polish membership of the OECD

Poland became a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on 22 November 1996, as the first inclusive grouping of the Western world, to which our country was invited and admitted after the introduction of pro-democratic political changes. Currently, the OECD has 38 member countries. Since June 2021, its head is Australian Mathias Cormann.
