05.07.2021

On 1 July, Hungary took over the presidency of the Visegrád Group from Poland, taking the reins of the Virtual Office for V4 Digital Projects, which was set up during the Polish presidency.

Virtual Office for V4 Digital Projects – time for Hungary!

The Visegrád Group (V4) is an informal regional form of cooperation of four Central European countries – Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary, which are connected not only by their shared borders and similar geopolitical circumstances, but also by shared history, tradition, culture and values.

Digital collaboration

The establishment of the Virtual Office for V4 Digital Projects was the result of a Polish initiative as part of our V4 presidency, announced in February this year in a declaration signed by the prime ministers of the Visegrád 4 on mutual cooperation in digital projects – the so-called Digital Declaration.

The first meeting of the Virtual Office was held on 26 May 2021 with the aim to identify the areas of cooperation between the V4 countries, as well as opportunities to launch regional projects to accelerate digital transformation within the group.

The meeting was chaired by the creator of the initiative - Krzysztof Szubert, High Representative of the Prime Minister for European Digital Policy and  National Coordinator of the V4 Joint Digital Projects. Read more.

Time for Hungary

With Hungary taking over the presidency of the Visegrád 4, it is time to select specific projects that will accelerate the digital transformation of the V4 countries by developing new products, business models, investments and research.

The presidency of the Visegrád 4 rotates on a yearly basis and its programme is approved by the Prime Ministers of the V4 countries. From 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021, Poland was leading the group. Now, Hungary will lead the V4 until 30 June 2022.
