25.03.2024

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again joined the celebrations of Belarus Freedom Day (Belarusian: „Дзень Волі”). Unrecognised by the Minsk regime, the holiday is celebrated by independent Belarusians to mark the anniversary of the proclamation of the Belarusian Democratic Republic on 25 March 1918.

Deputy Minister Henryka Mościcka-Dendys - Belarus Freedom Day

A piano and opera concert was organised in cooperation with the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and Belarusian democratic opposition, and performed by Belarusian artists. The event was accompanied by an exhibition on the current political situation in Belarus.

The event was attended by Undersecretary of State at the Polish MFA Henryka Mościcka-Dendys, United Transitional Cabinet’s Representative for National Revival Alina Koushyk, and Rector of the Chopin University of Music prof. dr hab. Klaudiusz Baran.

In her speech, Deputy Minister Henryka Mościcka-Dendys underlined Poles’ support for Belarusian society because we understand the national hopes and European aspirations of our neighbours. Poland is a place where Belarusians can cherish their traditions, develop art, and foster their mother tongue to make their dream of living in a free Belarusian State true one day. Quoting Ales Bialiatski, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate and political prisoner, on the desires of the Belarusian nation, Deputy Minister Henryka Mościcka-Dendys wished Belarusian society to be able to live in a democratic and free country. Apart from the representatives of Belarusian opposition and independent NGOs, the ceremony was also attended by diplomats accredited to Poland, prominent analysts of Polish academia and research centres, as well as Belarusians resident in Poland and Polish supporters of the Belarussian nation.
