The deputy chief of Polish diplomacy presented Poland’s perspective on the most important crises and conflicts in the region. During the consultations, the attendees discussed the planned  and potential initiatives that the European members of the Security Council could undertake in the near future.

Consultations between representatives of European Security Council members at the level of department directors in charge of UN affairs are a cyclical  event. They are held every six months in a different member state. The aim of the consultations is to discuss the Security Council’s current agenda and the EU Member States cooperation on this forum.

Poland, which began  its two-year term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council on 1 January 2018, hosted the event for the first time. The consultations in Warsaw were attended by  representatives of Poland, Belgium, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands,  and Sweden, which had already ended their terms. The delegates of the European External Action Service were also present in the meeting.
